
Biography
Virgilio Volante was born in Cassino in 1999 and began studying the piano under the guidance of M° Giovanni Valle. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano (110, cum laude, and honors mention) from the “Licinio Refice” Conservatory in Frosinone, under the guidance of M° Carlo Negroni, and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Piano (110, cum laude, and honors mention) from the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, under the guidance of M° Silvia Limongelli. He attended advanced courses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, taught by M° Lilya Zilberstein, and is currently studying composition at the “Licinio Refice” Conservatory in Frosinone under the guidance of M° Riccardo Santoboni.
Virgilio quickly demonstrated a talent for composition, writing music in various genres, and developed a keen interest in modern music, focusing on jazz and improvised music under M° Carlo Negroni.
He has attended various masterclasses and seminars, including with M° Pavel Gililov at the Pinerolo Music Academy, with M° Boris Petrushansky, Ingrid Fliter, and Igor Roma at the “Incontri col Maestro” International Academy in Imola, Berklee School of Jazz Clinics at Umbria Jazz, a masterclass in arrangement and ensemble music with M° Enrico Pieranunzi, Barry Harris’s masterclasses at the Felt Music Club & School in Rome, and a composition seminar with M° Stefano Taglietti at the Assisi Suono Sacro Festival.
Virgilio has placed in the top positions in several international competitions, including the “Clivis Prize” in Rome, the “Mozart Prize” in Frascati, the “Note nel Borgo dell’Angelo” Prize in Boville Ernica, the Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition, the Muse International Music Competition, and the UK International Music Competition.
He has given numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, both as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles, and as a soloist with orchestra, performing at events such as Atina Jazz, Villa Borghese Piano Day, Mercati di Traiano, Piano City Napoli, Piano City Milano, the Polish Institute in Rome, "Note in
Biblioteca" curated by the IUC, Concerti del Tempietto, Chiesa di San Paolo Entro le Mura in Rome, and in cities such as Syracuse, Marsala, Florence, Salò, Casamassima, Pescara, Caramanico Terme, as well as in Spain and Romania.
In addition to his concert career, he has an extensive activity as a solo pianist, composer, and educator in both classical and modern music. His compositions are published by Valle Giovanni Edizioni Musicali and are available on all digital platforms.
